Land development consultation on Monday 18th June (**UPDATED**)    June 19, 2012

A Notice was given of a 'Drop-In' Public Consultation Event that was held on Monday 18th June 2012 from 2.00pm through until 8.00pm, at Burbage Village Hall, Eastcourt Road, Burbage. SN8 3AJ

Pegasus Planning Group is preparing a planning application on behalf of Persimmon Homes for up to 53 new homes on land with access from the High Street and bound by existing housing on three sides

The Public Consultation Event was arranged to provide the opportunity for residents to call in and discuss the proposals and to complete comment sheets

Some local feedback has already been received:

  • The Surgery could cope with another 100-120 residents although there could be some concern about patients parking when visiting
  • Burbage Primary School is rated for up to 203 children. 4 years ago they had 142+, currently they only have 121 children with no increase due in September (20 are leaving for senior school, with another 20 registered to start)
  • The current lack of public transport is a concern and a greater demand may assist any local debate
  • Increased local traffic - it is considered most incoming traffic would enter via the roundabout with minimum impact on the village
  • Local businesses: Our Post Office is currently under-used and at risk of closure. Other facilities such as the White Hart, Three Horseshoes, Marr Green Farm Shop, Londis, Esso etc may benefit from the increase in local population

Please let us at the Burbage News know your thoughts - we will keep you up-to-date with any information we receive and we will do our best to ensure you only get the facts
