What is it all about?

What is this all about?

On this website, you’ll find a grid of 10,000 squares.
All we need to do is fill the grid!
Each square represents £1 and you can have any colour of your choice or even a little bit of text.
If you want to ‘buy’ a range of squares, or your group/
organisation makes a nice donation (like the Tuesday Bingo Club - see the grid) you can even have some fun with the pattern! It’s entirely up to you and the grid will stay on the site for at least 2 years once it’s filled.
The village website: www.burbage-village.org.uk

Why do we need to fill it? June Brew from the Patient Liaison Committee explains:

“The purpose of the fundraising proposed by the Patient Liaison Committee is to pay for the replacement of the existing outer and inner doors at the front of the surgery with automatic doors.Currently the doors are rather heavy which can make entry difficult, particularly if carrying anything. The new doors will cost £10,000.

“Automatic doors would not only greatly assist the majority of mobile patients but more importantly the disabled, wheelchair bound and those walking with the assistance of sticks and frames. Neither the frail and elderly nor the vision impaired would have to tackle trying to get the heavy doors open and mothers trying to negotiate with prams and young children, even those trying to manage young babies in carriers would hugely benefit.”

That’s it.
Simple as that.
To show you how we are doing, each month the Burbage News will print a thermometer showing the amount raised so far, although the grid will only be available online for now - remember though - we need YOU!

Let us know about any fund-raising activities you’re holding
